SPOTTED EAGLE RAY

Spotted eagle ray swimming in the blue, Aetobatus narinari, Tenerife diving

The Spotted Eagle Ray is a stunning and graceful ray frequently seen off the coast of Tenerife. Recognizable by its dark body with white spots and long whip-like tail, it glides elegantly over sandy bottoms and coral areas. These rays are harmless to humans and are a favorite sight for divers due to their beauty and gentle behavior. Very often spotted on the dive sites with sandy bottom.

Spotted Eagle Rays are ovoviviparous, giving birth to live pups. Mating and birthing typically occur during spring and summer months, when waters are warmer and food is plentiful.
